Welcome to Sand + Honey

Welcome to Sand + Honey

Hey there! I'm your curator, Samantha Robinson

This website is a culmination of everything I love; clothes, wellness, attitude, music, and passion-- The sensory experience of luxury, without the price tag.

When I'm playing music I go by DJ Samsara. When I'm selling or staging houses I go by Samantha. I'm infatuated with main character energy and the outfits that make the vibe possible. Don't get me wrong, sometimes lowkey-stealth is it's very own, needed look.

When I was younger, I wanted be a grown up so badly and have access to an adult lifestyle. ASAP. No second grade for me. I wanted out of there. Little did I know about bills...

I wanted to be the catalyst. The one to decide I am just going to go out there and do exactly what I want today- and feel like someone.

I knew life was about leaving the house and accomplishing whatever it was you set out to do that day. And yes, I did watch Sex and the City at a very impressional young age. The archetypes of Samantha and Carrie rubbed off on me... just a tad.

When I was 13, I went on a trip to New York City, for my Birthday. I had a premonition. I would be back one day, living in the city waking up in lingerie and having a feel good, hot girl moment. That did happen in real life. Check.

 Did not think I would be bald in my day dreams of NYC, but hey, experimentation is what the city is for.

For right now, I am back living in Detroit, while I get my graduate degree in Entrepreneurship and Innovation from Wayne State University. I grew up in a suburb not too far from here.

At a young age, I learned the key to doing what ever you want in life is 99% dressing the part. Because when you dress the part, you feel the part. You are the part, you are the scene. You fit the narrative and create + project the energy needed to be whoever the hell you want to be in that moment. It only makes sense that it will always work out for the best. It's strategy.

Some on my favorite outfit examples;

Ordering a vodka tonic at a very luxe bar when I was 16, because I was wearing heels and a blazer

Push up bra around my older brother's hot friend ;)

Not to brag, but - I did Rent the Runway for high school dances ... before they had a subscription plan.

I've lived a thousand episodes and many lives. I have my sense of style to thank for the most epic moments. I had lore before lore was trending. If "for the plot" was popular when I was in high school, there would have been no limit to the already incredibly lore worthy moments.

I've traveled more than is physically comfortable and have lived in Detroit, Los Angeles, Austin, Tulum, and New York City. I take a bit of style perspective from each city I visit.

The styles you will see in this shop are inspired by the essence of each city I've traveled to and have experienced. Saving the best parts and ditching the cringe. The fit, the colors, the essence. Because I have lived it and need to bring the fashion of it all, to you.

A very quick guide;

Tough+Black in Berlin; I will save you my horror story about wearing pink in Berlin for another day.

Definitely not resort wear to Art Basel

Flowing Goddess vibes in Rome + Greece

Chic Minimalism in Paris

Dress warm and proper like a Scottish man in cashmere when visiting England

Surprisingly street in Barcelona

Divine (kinda slutty) Feminine in Tulum (in a good way)

High-Quality, Casual Neutrals in LA

Think Burning Man with a touch of Western in Austin

Preppy, Club Kid, or longest puffer jacket you can find, during winter in NYC.

Leather, latex, and Patten Leather Pleasers (the highest boots you've ever seen) as a dominatrix in NYC dungeons.

Detroit; thrifted, warm, character worthy outfits. Similar to Berlin but make it America and a little ehh

The list goes on but fashion never dies. It evolves, repeats, it adapts, it localizes to reflect the nuances of different communities. Like the grit needed to toughen out the subways in New York City.

I always new my life would overlap with fashion in one way or another.

I made the high school senior swag for my graduating class at Mercy High School. It was a very wearable - and not in a wear it once for a pep rally - kind of look. White crewneck sweatshirts with "Lamborghini Mercy" on the front. It was such a good look, I wrote the crewneck in Paris with a relaxed and very well fit olive green army jacket.

To me, trends are about taking the essence of the look and making it your own. It felt and feels embarrassing to have something on that everyone else has.

In college, I had an online resale boutique selling thrifted finds.

This time, I want it bigger and more editorial. I want to source the products and find more than just super cute sweatshirts. I want to provide people with THE LOOKS. The energy. The entertainment. The mood.

I want to incorporate clothing drops with music, movies, and whatever else is exciting and needs to be shared (I'm on a Korean Skincare kick right now and will give you the FULL list of would and would not's). My goal is to fill people with the embodiment of a curated vibe.

I want to help people traveling to find the right clothes for their vacation to fit in and enjoy, instead of feeling like an outsider.
